Spanish side Real Betis, fresh off securing the loan of Manchester United's Antony, are now reportedly eyeing up another Red Devil: left-back Tyrell Malacia. With Antony's arrival providing a boost to their attacking options, the Andalusian club is keen to strengthen its defensive flank.
Malacia, who joined United from Feyenoord just a year ago, has struggled to secure a regular starting spot under Rúben Amorim. The manager defender has faced stiff competition from Luke Shaw and has been in and out of the team. This inconsistency, coupled with the club's desire to bolster their squad, has led to speculation surrounding his future at Old Trafford.
Betis, known for their attractive style of play, believe Malacia's skillset would be a perfect fit for their team. His ability to both defend and attack makes him an ideal candidate for the left-back position. Moreover, a move to Betis could provide Malacia with more regular first-team football, which is crucial for his development at this stage of his career.
The successful loan move of Antony to Betis has undoubtedly played a role in the club's interest in Malacia. The Brazilian winger has quickly settled into the team and has impressed with his performances. This has given Betis confidence that they can integrate another Manchester United player into their squad.
Manchester United have been active in the transfer market in recent months, both in terms of incomings and outgoings. The club is looking to rebuild its squad and return to the top of English football. The potential departures of both Antony and Malacia would free up funds for the club to make further signings.
With the January transfer window now open, it remains to be seen whether Betis will be able to secure the signing of Malacia. Manchester United, for their part, will be keen to offload players who are not part of their long-term plans.
