Manchester United legend Roy Keane has raised eyebrows with his assessment of Alejandro Garnacho, suggesting the young Argentine is better suited to a role from the bench.

Keane, known for his no-nonsense approach, made the comments following Garnacho's impressive cameo in Manchester United's recent FA Cup victory over Leicester City. While the Argentine winger came off the bench to inspire his team to a win, Keane believes Garnacho's impact is greater when he is introduced as a substitute.

"I think Garnacho is better coming off the bench," Keane said. "I don't think you can trust him as a starter. But when he comes off the bench, you're gambling and the team is up against it, that's when he's at his best."

The Irishman went on to explain his reasoning: "United pinned Leicester back and the substitutes came on. That's what Garnacho does well. In the first half, United were going sideways. He came on and tested Leicester."

Keane's comments have sparked a debate among Manchester United fans and pundits alike. While some agree with the former captain, others have defended Garnacho and believe he has the potential to become a regular starter for the club.

Garnacho's future at United

Garnacho has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent months, with several top European clubs expressing interest in the young forward. However, the Argentine has insisted that he is happy at Manchester United and wants to fight for his place in the team.

The 20-year-old has shown glimpses of his immense talent since breaking into the first team, but he has also been inconsistent. Keane's comments could put additional pressure on Garnacho to perform consistently, but it could also serve as a motivation for the young player to prove his doubters wrong.

What next for Garnacho?

It remains to be seen how Garnacho will respond to Keane's criticism. If he can continue to produce match-winning performances from the bench, he may eventually force his way into the starting XI. However, if he struggles to find consistency, he may have to accept a more limited role at the club.
