This Sunday, the Etihad Stadium will be the stage for one of the most anticipated matches of the Premier League season: the Manchester derby between Manchester City and Manchester United. A fixture that always promises plenty of excitement, this time it comes laden with both history and contemporary significance.
Manchester City and Manchester United are currently two of the most powerful teams in Europe. City, under the stewardship of Pep Guardiola, have dominated the Premier League in recent years, while United, following a period of rebuilding, are seeking to reclaim their place at the top.
Manchester City: The Citizens are coming into this game in a slightly inconsistent patch of form. Despite possessing a squad filled with world-class talent, results haven't been as expected in recent weeks. Guardiola will need to find a way to turn things around and get his team back on track.
Manchester United: The Red Devils, on the other hand, have shown significant improvement since the arrival of Rúben Amorim. The team is playing with intensity and has managed to pick up important points in recent matches. However, there's still plenty of room for improvement.
Manchester City: Ortega; Gvardiol, Dias, Simpson-Pusey, Kyle Walker; Silva, Gundogan, Nunes; Foden, Savinho, Haaland.
Manchester United: Onana; Mazraoui, De Light, Martínez, Dalot; Maino, Ugarte, Diallo, Garnacho, Fernandes; Hojlund.
Beyond the line-ups, it's crucial to analyse the recent form of both teams. In their last five matches, Manchester United have won three against Bodo/Glimt, Everton, and Viktoria Plzen, but have lost two to Arsenal and Nottingham Forest.
Meanwhile, Manchester City have only managed one win against Nottingham Forest, with draws against Feyenoord and Crystal Palace and losses to Juventus and Liverpool. These results give a clearer indication of which team is in better form heading into the derby.
The match between Manchester City and Manchester United will be played this Sunday, December 15th, at 4:30 PM at the Etihad Stadium.
You can watch the game live on Sky Sports Premier League and Main Event from 4pm."
