Manchester United’s top transfer target, Frenkie De Jong is being pushed by FC Barcelona to accept the Red Devils’ proposal so they can be able to register their new signing Jules Koundé, as reported by Roger Torello from Mundo Deportivo. The Dutch midfielder still wants to stay at Camp Nou, even after they want him to leave.
Yesterday, Barcelona drew 0-0 against Rayo Vallecano. De Jong started the match sitting on the bench and was subbed on in the 60th minute. For this reason, Barca’s manager was asked if he still counts on the player, to which he answered: “Frenkie De Jong is not a reserve player, I’ve said that several times. He’s an important player for us”.

However, Xavi Hernández did admit that he still doesn’t know what will happen with the 25-year-old this summer, but hopes he stays as he is one of the best players in the world in his position: “I don’t know what will happen, but if Frenkie stays he will be important to us. Just look at the situation he played in today”.
Earlier today, Simon Mullock from the Sunday Mirror reported that Xavi told De Jong that he doesn’t feature in his plans for this season. Despite this, the Netherland centre-midfielder is still refusing to give up on the £17 million in differed wages that the club owes him. Mullock also reports that Manchester United still hope that he will join them.
Both Chelsea and Manchester United are still waiting for De Jong to make a decision on his future. However, the Red Devils should take advantage of ten Hag’s relationship with the player. Also, the Blues are busy closing Aubameyang and Fofana’s transfers.
