André Onana's performance in Manchester United's 3-2 victory over Ipswich was a mixed bag, with the goalkeeper making two glaring errors that nearly cost his team the win. However, manager Rúben Amorim has offered his support to the Cameroonian, urging him to focus on the future and learn from his mistakes.
Onana's errors were the talking points of the match, with fans and pundits alike questioning his decision-making and concentration. The goalkeeper's blunders nearly gifted Ipswich two goals, highlighting his inconsistency between the posts.
Despite Onana's errors, Amorim has chosen to publicly back his goalkeeper. "He made some fantastic saves that saved our team and sometimes he has problems, but that's normal," Amorim stated. "I think if you look at our team you can find many players with that problem."
Amorim addressed the controversy surrounding Ipswich's second goal, where Onana appeared to be caught out by a long ball. "People talk about the second goal against Ipswich, he expects Delap to touch it, it can happen," Amorim explained.
Amorim's message was clear: Onana needs support, not criticism. "We just have to support Andre," he emphasized. "We have to forget the past and think about the future."
Amorim's message is clear: Onana needs time and support to reach his full potential. The Manchester United manager believes that the Cameroonian has the ability to be a key player for the team.
