Once upon a time the city of Manchester was red as United dominated English football and no one can stop them. Then in 2005 this family from Florida took over the club and since then it has been downhill. Meanwhile on the other side, City were struggling and even got relegated but they struck the lottery by getting new ownership with Abu Dhabi. Since then, the tides have shifted in Manchester, with City on a path to overtake their rivals with trophy win after trophy win.

Over the past decade, United have tried to fight back by trying to use their financial firepower and status but it has been to no avail. That financial firepower is now gone so where does the hope lie for United. That’s where Sir Jim Ratcliffe enters. Ratcliffe and his team INEOS acquired 25 percent of the club with the primary focus being sporting matters. Ratcliffe, who is a lifelong United fan, wants to see the club be the best in the land again, not the second-best team in their own city. And to do that ruthlessness is required and it also requires the best of the best within the club.

Before Ratcliffe’s deal was signed between the two parties, Manchester United lost their CEO in Richard Arnold who decided to step down from the club, and immediately people connected it with INEOS and said they want to get their guy in. Well, the moment has arrived as Manchester United have found their new CEO. And to make matters sweeter they stole it from a rival.

Manchester United’s new CEO is City Football Group Chief football operations officer Omar Berrada, which means he oversees all football subsidiaries of the City Football Group which includes Manchester City, Girona, NYCFC, and many others. This is a big coup for United as not only have they got their man, but they also weakened a rival.
