Manchester United have been given another reason to go out and sign a new striker. The Red Devils have been heavily linked with several big names throughout the January transfer window but, after forking out more than £400million on signings in the last 18 months, Erik ten Hag is said to be on a tight budget this month.

In fact, the media understands that United have prioritised outgoings to lower the wage bill in compliance with domestic and European Financial Fair Play rules. The Red Devils have not ruled out the possibility of bringing in a new face at Carrington in January, but it's believed that any deal would have to be 'exceptionally economic'.

With Antony Martial set to be out of action for 10 weeks due to a groin injury, Ten Hag could be left with no choice but to broaden his search for a new talisman. But the Dutchman will have to be clever with his spending or else he risks putting United in a spot of bother with the Premier League. So, with that being said, the media has taken a look at four strikers who the Red Devils could sign for a bargain before the January transfer window slams shut.

Benzema faces an increasingly uncertain future at Al-Ittihad despite having only joined from Real Madrid in the summer. The 36-year-old striker, who penned a three-year deal in the Middle East, has featured 15 times in the Saudi Pro League this season, scoring nine goals and providing five assists. After just six months at his new club, widespread reports claimed that the France international could return to Europe. While a potential loan deal looks brilliant on paper, Benzema has cast doubt over a potential move happening this month. If he's available, especially on loan, he could be perfect to get United through to the summer.

A closer chance

Probably the most exciting option on this list. Ramos could be offloaded by Paris Saint-Germain this month, according to French publication L'Equipe, despite only joining from Benfica in the summer. The 22-year-old striker has struggled to force himself into Luis Enrique's plans in the French capital – but that's not to say he isn't worthy of a big move to Old Trafford. Last season in the Portuguese top flight, Ramos scored 19 goals and provided seven assists in 30 games. Ramos was monitored by United before the club opted to bring in Rasmus Hojlund in the summer so it makes sense that they could be tempted to try their luck this month with the forward struggling in the French capital.
