When a new ownership group arrives at a football club, the first thing that happens is change and an overhaul. We saw what happened with Chelsea and BlueCo. Newcastle with their Saudi Arabian ownership is another key example. Now it is time for Manchester United to undergo this long overdue overhaul that has been needed for years and years.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has arrived at Carrington with one goal in mind. The goal is for United to reclaim their title of the best team in England. What was once the crown jewel of England and the most successful team in the land, has now fallen behind their two biggest rivals, Liverpool and Manchester City. Liverpool is closing the gap on the most league titles in history, and Manchester City are on pace to do the one thing Ferguson never did at United. Win the league four times in a row. City already did the treble, if they do this the once noisy neighbors have something to hold over United’s head.

For this goal to happen Ratcliffe has no choice but to make the tough decisions and to make them swiftly. No attachment, just business. Ratcliffe foreshadowed this at a meeting with MUST which is a Manchester United supporter group. He mentioned to them that United need to be ruthless on all fronts if they want to become successful again. Early signs are there after the departure of Richard Arnold right before the ownership deal took place, which was a sign that INEOS want a say in who the CEO will be at the club whilst they are here.

Ratcliffe has instilled his right-hand man to lead this process and oversee who needs to leave and who will have to leave the football club. Manchester Evening News reported that Brailsford will audit the club over the next few weeks and the changes are expected to be “brutal.”

Who is at most risk with these new changes

The most at risk will be staff members in the commercial and digital departments as United are set to put a bigger focus on sporting matters.
