The end of the road is nearing for a Manchester United player whose contract is running out at the end of the season. Anthony Martial has been with the Red Devils for almost a decade after joining in the summer of 2015. The finish line is near with the club deciding to not trigger the one-year option on the Frenchman’s contract.

The striker has had a series of highs and lows in his time with the Red Devils throughout the ten seasons at the club. From the excellent opening campaign under Louis van Gaal which saw him win the Golden Boy award, to the lows under Jose Mourinho which saw him lose his jersey number and almost sold in the summer of 2018. Martial would face a revival at United under Ole Gunnar Solskjær where he had his best season of his career but it was also the last time United fans saw a consistent Anthony Martial.

Having been injury prone for the last 4 seasons which included an underwhelming loan spell at Sevilla, the market for the French striker is very limited. There were earlier reports this month that Turkish club Fenerbahçe were interested in the striker according to Sky Sports. United have good relations with the club after selling them Brazilian midfielder Fred for 10 million Euros with 5 million in add-ons this summer.

However, these reports have dried up and according to “RMC Sport” Martial will not be leaving this transfer window. He is now set to leave at the end of the season on a free transfer. Once recovering from his current injury he will remain as Rasmus Højlund backup. United will not be able to make money on him much to their dismay.

Erik Ten Hag current update on Martial

“He’s not fit, so he’s not OK,” Ten Hag said “ It’s his job as well to get ready for the next game, but in this moment he isn’t. He is in medical treatment and he has to recover.”
