The structures at Manchester United have been in dire need of development and upgrading for years now. Old Trafford used to be the best stadium in England. It was the crème de la crème. Now when international tournaments are in the UK, Old Trafford is not even selected. They would rather choose Etihad over Old Trafford. That is one way to symbolize the rise of the blue side of Manchester to the fall of the red side in Manchester.

Old Trafford is not the only building within Utd’s infrastructure that needs upgrading, as the training ground is also in massive needs of renovation. Manchester United have been based in Carrington since 1999. However the training facilities have been under heavy criticism in recent times, including from one of the club’s biggest legends in Cristiano Ronaldo. The legend criticized the facilities and claimed that they had not improved since he left in 2009.

United have also needed to expand the facilities at Carrington with the women’s team becoming more prominent and more space is needed for the United academy as well. With the space not being available where United are currently based, they are looking to move from Carrington. Due to the high demands of what is needed in terms of space, United’s options are quite limited.

The arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe also needs to be factored into the situation as the new partial owner may want a say in where United relocate to. Although this matter may not fall under his jurisdiction, the Glazers may want to involve him. Reports earlier in the week suggested that United have found a spot and begun preliminary meetings. The place in question according to the Daily Mail was High Legh Park Golf Club. The golf club is in Cheshire.

There were no meetings

Contrary to Daily Mail reports there were no meetings at all. The golf clubs ownership group American Golf reject any notion of any meeting. According to one of their spokesperson, “No conversations between High Legh Park Golf Club and Manchester United are currently taking place.” The golf club is currently on the market for a sale so it is possible United eventually do follow up on the interest.
