A move to Turkey could be on the horizon for this United forward

With only two weeks left in the January transfer window, teams will soon be starting to race against the clock to achieve their goals this window. For some it will be buying players in areas of need, but for others it will be offloading players that are surplus to requirements. Manchester United fits the latter of the two categories.

With Financial Fair Play looming around, Manchester United are trying to scrape together any kind of funds to make sure they are in good standing with FFP. So far this window they have not been able to facilitate any permanent sale but have been able to loan out a couple players and include buy options in them. If these buy options are to get triggered at the end of the season, United would feel very happy about the money they would be able to recuperate from these players.

United have a few players whose contracts are set to expire at the end of the season and for most of those guys their one-year options got picked up such as Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. However, there is one player who saw his option not get picked up and that is Anthony Martial. At the very least the Frenchman is set to leave at the end of the season but Manchester United are hoping that a club can come in for him so they can make some money off the player. After the interest from Fenerbahçe earlier this month resulted in nothing, United lost all hope. But hope has arrived.

Fenerbahçe’s rivals Galatasaray have entered the race for the French forward and according to a newspaper outlet in Istanbul called Milliyet, Galatasaray are hoping to steal Martial from their rivals this month. The outlet believes that Martial has already rejected Fenerbahçe’s advances this month. Milliyet has said the striker is Galatasaray’s number one priority.

Martial’s desire to test the market as a free agent

The two Turkish clubs are not the only clubs to have inquired about Martial this month, as reports earlier this month stated that clubs like West Ham, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and West Ham United all stated their interest in the player. Martial rejected all advances and wants to see out his contract at Man United and survey his options as a free agent this summer.
