The need for a revamp in Manchester United’s defense is a well-known subject as the club and the rumors of players the club are looking at increase’s day by day. This week alone we have seen United linked continuously with four centre-backs in Jaraad Branthwaite, Jean-Clair Todibo, Leny Yoro, and the new link which is Matthijs De Ligt from Bayern. The cb position is not the only position in defense that United look to address this summer.

No position has evolved in importance in the modern game more than the fullback position. With the likes of Trent Alexander Arnold, Alphonso Davies, Theo Hernandez, and Reece James showing what a top fullback can bring to a team, United need to find a couple that can get them to that level. United have not had the best of luck in transfers within the full back department as the likes of Wan-Bissaka, Dalot, and even Luke Shaw never truly hit the heights that were expected to be reached.
The club is specifically looking to upgrade to the right back position with the future of Aaron Wan-Bissaka in doubt. The English right back had his one-year option triggered in the beginning of January, but that was more for United to maximize monetary value on the player. Bissaka has recently been linked with a return to Crystal Palace according to ESPN and United would like to use him in a swap deal for Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise. A Bissaka exit would create room for United to sign a right-back.
Whilst United have been heavily linked with Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen since the arrival of Ten Hag, the player that appears to be one of the top choices is someone they have played against this season. Sacha Boye of Galatasaray. The two clubs were in the same Champions League group this season with Galatasaray beating Manchester United at Old Trafford and the two clubs settling on a draw in Turkey.

According to Rob Dawson of ESPN the interest in the French right back is strong and the player has strong admirers at the club after his two performances against Manchester United, particularly the Old Trafford fixture.
