As of right now, Manchester United have only brought in three new signings for the new manager Erik ten Hag: Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martínez. Even though they are good players, and everyone has been impressed by their quality, it still feels that these arrivals are not enough to take the club back on top.
Today’s morning, Simon Mullock, from the Sunday Mirror, reported that the ‘Red Devils have targeted Cody Gakpo. After months of trying to sign Ajax winger Antony and Ajax refusing to sell the player for less than £80 million, ten Hag and the board seem to have shifted their attention to PSV Eindhoven’s captain.
It is official; this player won't be available against Brighton

Mullock adds that the 23-year-old price tag would only be around £40m, half of what Ajax is asking for Antony. However, let’s keep in mind that PSV are still competing in the Champions League third-round play-off as they will face AS Monaco for a place in the group stages. If they do not qualify, they might be more open about letting Gakpo go.
Cody Gakpo was named Dutch Footballer of the Year las season after winning the Dutch cup and scoring 21 goals and giving out 15 assists as the PSV captain at only 23 years of age. He has even earned a called up to his national team after his impressive performances. Erik ten Hag really wants a polyfunctional players and Gakpo really fits the parameters, as he can play on either wing.
