After the great debut shown by André Onana, Manchester United have had to rethink the situation with their goalkeepers, as in addition to the Cameroonian, the coach plans to bring in a goalkeeper to act as a substitute and get minutes in "not so relevant" games for the club, as the goalkeepers in the squad do not fit in Ten Hag's scheme.
Erik Ten Hag has a number of goalkeepers who have been appearing in pre-season games, however, there is one goalkeeper who has not been getting game time. Dean Henderson is the one who has been the most talked about recently, having returned from a thigh injury, he has not been given the opportunity to prove he can fight for a place in the squad.
Although the 26-year-old was named in the squad for the club's tour of the United States, he has not been able to take part in any of the games, as against Arsenal the starting goalkeeper was Tom Heaton and against Real Madrid André Onana made his debut, so his situation is looking increasingly complicated.
For that reason the coach spoke about it and commented that, if Dean Henderson wanted to have playing time, he would have to "fight" for it, because as has been said on previous occasions, Ten Hag gives the opportunity to earn a place in the squad, so the competition is becoming increasingly difficult and in the goalkeeper position would not be the exception, as the club therefore sought Onana for him to be their starting goalkeeper throughout the campaign.
Manchester United also have the option of selling Henderson, which would ensure a little more space in the budget, Nottingham Forest, who signed Anthony Elanga for 15 million, is interested in the goalkeeper, so in the coming days will submit a new offer for the player, as the loan option the club rejected.
