When the club action was halted for the commencement of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, a handful of United stars were invited to take part in the competition, which has been the dream for many of them.

Shortly after taking over, Erik Ten Hag was adamant about improving some areas on the squad and encouraged United to go all out to bring in one of his former players to Old Trafford. Eventually United succeeded in signing Antony Santos from Ajax for a record fee.

The heavy price used to acquire the young Brazilian services from the Dutch giants came under heavy scrutiny from both the United fans and pundits who couldn't justify why they spent so much on him.

Antony soon began to shake off the doubt that plagued his move to Old Trafford and found his way to overcome it with impressive displays so far and a couple of goals and assists to signal his intent at United.

WHICH LEGEND SPOKE WITH ANTONY?

Antony's great form earned him a spot in Brazil's World Cup list and was part of the squad as they cruised from the group stage to the knockout stage of the competition. They were subsequently beaten on penalties by Croatia in the quarterfinals of the World Cup. Antony was heartbroken like the rest of his national teammates and received some words of encouragement from Pele. The football legend urged him not to give up as there's still hope in the future to win the World Cup which would be Brazil's number six.
