Antony seeking redemption following recent troubles at Manchester United
The return of Casemiro ensure that Manchester United started the game at a fast pace as they took hold of possession by bossing Nottingham Forest around. A beautiful pass from Casemiro to in-form Marcus Rashford set the game up for the first goal of the night.
Marcus Rashford picked up the pass from United's halfway line and made a darting run at the Nottingham backing cutting almost four defenders before firing a left-footed strike past Wayne Hennessey at his near post to put United ahead in the sixth minute. Nottingham Forest equalized but it was ruled out for offside by VAR.
Much later in the first half, Manchester United had a moment to double their lead but it was denied by the goal. Intricate one-touch passes between Antony, Bruno, and Weghorst, saw Antony one on one with the Forest goalie but he fired a weak direct shot that was parried away by the keeper. Erik Ten Hag who was watching the sequence of play covered his face in disbelief at Antony's miss. United doubled their league just before the break withWeghorst's rebound flick-in to make it 2-0.
