Manchester United has been unlucky when it comes to signing promising and star players in recent times. Since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, the team has lost prominence, not only in the Premier League but also at the European level and in large part this is due to the "star" signings that never worked out and ended up leaving through the back door.

Several players have arrived at Old Trafford with the task of leading Manchester United's resurgence, but so far none have been able to live up to expectations.

From Radamel Falcao, Angel Di Maria and Alexis Sanchez, to Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial, are just some of the names most remembered by the fans, because when the Red Devils management brought him to England's biggest team, they simply proved not to be up to the task. In the most recent years, there is another case of a player who was set to become the best midfielder in the world and instead has only disappointed the fans.

We are talking about Donny van de Beek, the midfielder emerged from Ajax who conquered all of Europe in that great Champions League campaign of the Dutch team in 2019 and for whom Manchester United paid 39 million euros. However, injuries and van de Beek's underperformance have relegated him to a secondary role in Erik ten Hag's team, as he played only 7 games last season in which he did not score a single goal.

Donny wants to leave Manchester

Donny van de Beek has reportedly told the Red Devils management of his desire to leave for a team where he can be more active. However, so far, the Old Trafford board has not received any offer for him, despite the fact that his value has dropped to 17 million euros, when he was worth 45 million.
