One of Erik ten Hag’s priorities besides signing a new defensive midfielder, which most likely will be Casemiro, as Manchester United is currently negotiating with Real Madrid for the player, is the right-back position. There have been a large number of players linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, but no one has materialized.
Fabrizio Romano reported that Thomas Meunier has been offered to FC Barcelona and Manchester United by some intermediaries in the last couple of weeks. However, neither of the clubs have made a concrete offer for the defender despite both teams being desperate for a new right-back, because they are still evaluating different options.

Today, Borussia Dortmund’s former player and now football director Sebastian Kehl has come out and told the reporter Ruhr Nachrichten from BVB Buzz that they have no intention to sell the 30-year-old this summer as their manager still counts on him: “We currently see no reason to sell Meunier. That’s not in our plans”.
Yesterday it was reported by Jason Burt from The Daily Telegraph that the full-back would only cost £12 million. But after these words from Dortmund, the Red Devils might move on and focus on selling Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Crystal Palace before going all-in for Barca’s Sergiño Dest, who is one of Erik ten Hag’s favorites.
The 20-time champions of England have been in talks with Barcelona for the signing of Dest for quite a few weeks now. However today it was reported by Hugo Guillemet from L’Equipe that both clubs have shown interest in the 19-year-old French right-back Malo Gusto from Olympique Lyon. After this, the rumors about Meunier’s future will come to an end as he will stay in Germany.
