Cristiano Ronaldo's exit from manchester United came as an open secret, as it was well anticipated as the most likely outcome of the scandal that embroiled their relationship during the latter phases of his time at the club just around the World Cup.
At the start of the season, Ronaldo was rumored to be interested in leaving Manchester United after the club fell out of earning a spot in his beloved UEFA Champions League competitions and had to accept a Europa League participation.

Though he came out to discredit the alleged summer exit from United in his media interview and even stated that he clearly told the club that wanted to continue with them earlier on in the summer and was not looking to leave.
But there was a genuine late interest in him from Chelsea after their takeover over was completed but then the Chelsea manager didn't want to do a deal despite their new owners' interest. The idea of a switch to Stamford Bridge was subsequently tanked.
After his mutual exit from United, Chelsea was amongst a host of potential destinations for the Portuguese striker but there was no certainty when a move would be made. According to reports, the recent injury to Chelsea's Armando Broja has prompted the club to consider Ronaldo's move more seriously and are working out the possibility of bringing him to the club.
