Lisandro Martínez was quick to react as Man United reached the FA Cup final after beating Brighton in the semi-finals.

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez took to social media to celebrate the Reds' victory in the FA Cup semi-final after missing the clash through injury.

The Argentine centre-back will be sidelined for the rest of the season after he was taken away with a fractured metatarsal in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final tie with Sevilla last week. Martinez, who has made 45 appearances for the Reds since he joined from Ajax last summer, was forced to watch the FA Cup semi-final clash with Brighton from his house.

Despite being without defender, or his partner at center Raphael Varane, Erik ten Hag's team advanced to the final of the famous competition with a penalty shootout victory over the Seagulls on Sunday. After 120 goalless minutes, Victor Lindelof was the hero as he converted from the penalty spot to give United a 7-6 win on penalties.

After the match, the injured Martinez posted a video of himself celebrating the win on his Instagram. The 25-year-old was understandably pleased with the win and was eager to show his teammates his support.

United's next activity

United will face Manchester City in the FA Cup final in early June in what will be Manchester's first derby in a domestic cup final. Pep Guardiola's side cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win over Sheffield United on Saturday thanks to a Riyad Mahrez hat-trick. The Reds return to Premier League action on Thursday night to take on Tottenham Hotspur. For Martinez, meanwhile, he's focused on getting back into shape in time for next season.
