Manchester United is currently taking a break from all on-the-pitch activities following the six-week World Cup break imposed across top leagues for the ongoing Mundial. The club now focuses on other activities off the pitch as they plan for the future.

Erik Ten Hag faced several challenges since taking over the managerial position at the club earlier in the summer. He had a decent preseason run with the squad to assess the strength of his team and where they needed improvements.

The board backed him with swift additions that saw the likes of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and several others to give Erik Ten Hag more options and also his preferred type of players, who have so far helped United achieve more stability under his tutelage.

United recently lost more attacking threat after the club decided to terminate Cristiano Ronaldo's contract over his recent media comments about them and their internal affairs, in which he also called out the club owners. His dismissal has further triggered United's decision process on new signings.

WHO IS THE PLAYER UNITED WANTS TO SIGN?

United's quest for more attacking options has seen Erik Ten Hag reportedly express interest in signing former Manchester United player Memphis Depay from cash-stripped FC Barcelona. The Netherlands international is very much open to a return to Old Trafford after a rocky first spell at the club. Depay is currently playing at the World Cup in Qatar with the Netherlands and scored their first goal against the USA in the round of 16 on the back of a solid performance today.
