During the summer, Manchester United had to let several players go, as the manager made it very clear that those players who did not fit in the plans for the season should be sold, as, in order to make the corresponding signings, there was not much budget available, so generating an economic benefit with those departures was one of the priorities for the club's management.

One of the positions that underwent many changes during this period was the goalkeeping, as we already know, André Onana was signed during the pre-season, specifically when the club was touring the United States, so the Cameroonian goalkeeper quickly became the undisputed starter for Ten Hag's scheme, they had already shared a time together at Ajax and that was one of the reasons for his arrival.

However, in order for Onana to arrive at Old Trafford, David de Gea had to leave the Red Devils after 12 years in goal, which was undoubtedly one of the hardest blows for the fans, as the Spaniard had become a legend during this time, despite the fact that in recent seasons he had not performed at the expected level.

Even so, as he was unable to reach an agreement with the club's board to renew his contract, he had to leave on a free transfer and try to find a new team to give him his last chance to continue his football career, as at 31 years of age it is difficult for him to perform at the highest level, now that several young players are beginning to shine at a very young age.

De Gea's situation

The Spanish goalkeeper has not yet found a real offer that makes him go to a club definitively, because during this process there have only been rumors of clubs that are interested, but at the very moment they do not make a proposal for the goalkeeper, as well as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, even so, David de Gea is still trying to keep fit and train privately to receive an offer from any team where the transfer market has not yet closed.
