Club captain Harry Maguire was also called up for the Mundial by the England national team's head coach Gareth Southgate despite his tricky situation at the club level this season. The 29-year-old was joined by Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw in the Three Lions squad.

Maguire went on to start every single game for the Three Lions at the World Cup and put in some top performances that triggered conversations about his club situation under the new manager Erik Ten Hag, as many questioned his lack of game time.

WHAT ARE MAGUIRE'S WORRIES NOW?

Eventually, Harry Maguire and the England team were knocked out of the tournament by France which put an end to his outing at the Mundial. The France team which has his teammate Raphael Varane made it all the way to the final along with his other teammate Lisandro Martinez's Argentina, both of whom are ahead of him in the pecking order. With the pair making it to the final, Harry Maguire now worries if his performance at the tournament was enough to convince Ten Hag to give him more playing time.
