He had one last chance, Antony's performance would have proved his worth at United

Manchester United have some players who are on the tightrope, so the pre-season games are of vital importance for them, because there they can show their skills with the intention of impressing the coach, so that in the end they can get a place in the first team and although it is not easy due to the demands of the club, there are players who do make the most of their opportunity. 

The case of Antony is something that has been talked about all summer, as the Brazilian striker arrived a year ago as one of the biggest young stars in football and for that reason the Red Devils paid £86 million to sign him. 

However, during his first season he could not shine in the way everyone was expecting, although he had some flashes of his great qualities, in general terms he was below expectations, so during this preseason the player had as a goal to raise his level and prove that he could live up to the demands. 

During the last few games, Antony has had much more opportunity due to two factors; the first has been his great performance, as he has been in great form and has managed to emulate what was seen in his time at Ajax and that made United interested in him and on the other hand the injury of Amad Diallo, the young promise had also shown good qualities, however, his injury gives more peace of mind to the Brazilian for not having a strong competition for the starting line-up.

The Brazilian striker was a key player for Manchester United to come back from a one goal deficit; during the second half Antony took charge of the offense scoring a goal and assisting another goal, which made him the player of the match, showing that, if he continues with that kind of performances, the fans could see a totally different and much better player than last season.
