Manchester United's need for fresh legs in their attack saw them invest heavily in Antony's move from Ajax in the summer for their plans. Antony joined an attack that had Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Anthony Martial, and Antony Elanga.
The array of attacking options wasn't satisfactory for the Dutchman manager who was open to the idea of bringing in an addition in the winter transfer window, with several targets being monitored as they assess the options that would be available.

One dominant name that surfaced late in their summer spending list was 23-year-old Cody Gakpo, who is the captain of PSV Eindhoven. Gakpo has been on the rise for a few years now with the Dutch club and his exploits are being watched closely by top clubs in Europe.
This season alone, he has so far made over 30 goal contributions in just the first half of the season and will be expected to continue his great form throughout the rest of the season. He is currently part of the Netherlands World Cup campaign in Qatar.
Gakpo's outstanding performance this season has further drawn the attention of United who is now desperate to sign an attack in January to replace the dismissed Cristiano Ronaldo. His versatility across the front three positions makes him Ten Hag's preferred option to complement his expensive football style. Gakpo will reportedly cost United about 50 million euros.
