They wanted him out but he saves Manchester United's blunder
The reasons why Antony fails to be the contribution United needs
David De Gea has been terrific for the Red Devils with all of the impressive saves that have happened through tough games and opposition as the season progress. His gallant save during the Manchester derby kept United safe from most of the game as United mounted a comeback.
Since the start of the season, De Gea had done everything to push for a contract extension and was in confusion about his future with the club until talks started weeks ago for his renewal. Ten Hag is reported to have championed a contract offer while also planning for life after De Gea should talks breakdown.
According to reports, Erik Ten Hag is keen on signing David Raya of Brentford should Manchester United fail to reach an agreement with De Gea over the contract extension. Raya was part of Spain's World Cup team and would cost around 20 million euros. The current standoff in De Gea's contract renewal will be key to Ten Hag's plans.
