Manchester United has been the cradle of great idols worldwide, because being the biggest club in England, to succeed here is to succeed around the world, especially if we talk about the team led by Sir Alex Ferguson, who is undoubtedly the best coach in the history of our beloved club.

One of the great figures who has walked at Old Trafford and left a great mark on Manchester United was Ruud van Nistelrooy, who was at the club from 2001 to 2006, a period in which he won every local trophy, from the Premier League to the FA Cup. He is also one of the greatest scorers in the team's history, scoring 150 goals in 219 games, which won him the hearts of the fans.

That is why, when it was announced that a youngster with the supposed ability to take that mythical place would arrive, the Old Trafford fans were excited because they believed that this was the new great scorer of the team. However, nothing could have been further from the truth, as the jewel turned out to be an empty promise that ended in disappointment.

We are talking about Federico Macheda, an Italian striker who in 2009 was promoted to the first team under the tutelage of the great Sir Alex Ferguson. But despite the opportunities, Macheda never managed to consolidate himself in Manchester United and lost his place in a direct competition against Javier Hernandez "Chicharito", who proved to have more quality than the supposed new star, who ended up leaving the team definitively in 2014.

Where does Federico Macheda currently play?

After spending time on loan in several teams after not being able to earn a starting place at Manchester United, Macheda left the club for good in 2014 when he was signed by Cardiff City. Last season he played for APOEL of the Cyprus league, although his card belongs to Ankaragücü of Turkey.
