Several players left the club this summer transfer window after Erik ten Hag arrived and wanted to get rid of the deadwood in the dressing room as he believed that there were too many players in the squad and wanted to shorten up the number of players at his disposal in the club.

One of them was Eric Bailly, who was loaned out to Olympique Marseille but that move could potentially become a permanent deal if he either plays a certain number of games this season or if his new team ends up qualifying for next year’s UEFA Champions League. Since they were second place in last season’s Ligue 1, they should be in the next edition of the tournament.

Either way, he is still a Manchester United player in the books, and he has come out and criticized the club that paid his wages for six years. He said today that he didn’t like how the club and former managers gave certain preference to English players ahead of foreign footballers.

He, being from Ivory Coast didn’t play too many games during his time at the biggest club in England, but it wasn’t for him not being English, it was because he kept suffering injuries week in and week out. He used to get injured, was out for several months, returned and played two decent games, and got injured again.

We won't miss him

His situation was unsustainable and both the club and the new manager knew it. For that reason, he was loaned out to Marseille and he will most likely stay there for good. He doesn’t have a place in Manchester United as we have Raphaël Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire, and Victor Lindelöf ahead of him.
