Manchester United is in a red-hot chase for an attacking addition to their team after the summer gamble with their then-attacking option failed woefully just midway into their current season during the six-week club season break.

The club season break was a result of the scheduled 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar just around the winter period, forcing club actions to be halted. The club faced an unexpected crisis just days into the  break by their now-former player Cristiano Ronaldo.

The former Red Devils striker conducted a media interview surrounding his situation at the club during that period, which saw him call out the club owners' mismanagement of such a big club, as well as damning the already fragile relationship with the new manager.

The interview forced United to take the drastic action of mutually terminating his contract despite not being in the transfer market at the time for a replacement. Ths club subsequently sped up its plans to acquire new attacking options in the market.

WHO IS UNITED INTERESTED IN AND WHY IS THE DEAL TRICKY?

The Old Trafford club is interested in a young but efficient striker and has been keeping tabs on Ronaldo's international teammate, Goncalo Ramos who plays for SL Benfica. The 21-year-old bagged a hattrick on his full debut in the World Cup and would not be available for a January move forcing United to wait till the summer to get him.
