Huge sigh of relief for Ten Hag after key player return to the pitch

Over the last couple of weeks at Manchester United, no one felt more worried or anxious than the new manager Erik Ten Hag was pondering and tweaking his team toward achieving results. Losing one of his preferred starting players to a time on the sideline saw Ten Hag experiment to maintain United's rhythm on the pitch.

Ten Hag had early on in the season picked out players that fit his style and adapt to the principles and demands of his game.  Several regular starters for United in the past season became victims of his new style of play while others adapted.

With the signing of Lisandro Martinez for the left side of their defensive display, Ten Hag opted to pair the new addition with the experienced Raphael Varane ahead of club captain Harry Maguire. The decision birthed United consistency at the backline till Varane's injury.

Varane was subbed off in United's 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge after picking up what many feared was a long-term injury. But fortunately, his injury old ruled him out for a couple of weeks and saw him miss the remainder of United's game before the World Cup in Qatar.

IS TEN HAG STILL CONCERNED ABOUT HIM?

As the World Cup is underway, Erik ten Hag will be watching his called-up stars a little more closely than usual to access their fitness and mental shape ahead of the December left resumption. News of Varane's return to the French national team has been delightful for Ten Hag as he plans for the league resumption. Varane started France's 2-1 over Denmark and was subbed off late in the second half to keep him match-fit.
