Earlier this week Manchester United fans received a huge blow to their team's chances this season when the club official terminated Cristiano Ronaldo's contract following his recent comments about the club and its affairs in an aired interview.

The dismissal of Ronaldo was not an unexpected action after his media interview was aired but the reality of its potential impact began to seep in after the club's official statement. This left United was a drastic and urgent need for a striker in the coming winter window.

A dream come through for the latest United star

United have been linked to a lot of top talents in this position but they are yet to make any move. But that could be set to change as United has reportedly decided on their preferred talent to take the spot on the team as they prepare for life after Ronaldo.

PSV Eindhoven captain Cody Gakpo is the pick of the club and manager to bring to Old Trafford. The Dutch international has been in electrifying form so far this season with 17 goals and assists to his name before leagues were halted in Europe.

IS GAKPO THE RIGHT PICK FOR UNITED?

The Dutchman's quality in front of goals and ability to create chances through a game makes him an ideal candidate for Ten Hag's side. It reported that Ten Hag gave the green light to the club to get Gakpo as soon as the January transfer window to provide him with more attacking options to use. Gakpo is currently at the World Cup with Netherlands and marked his debut in the competition with a goal in their first game.
