Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher thinks Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak would be perfect for Manchester United. The 23-year-old Swede is beginning to find his own form at St James' Park after picking up a prolonged hamstring injury just three games into his North East career.

Isak would return to the starting eleven in January against Fulham and has since scored three goals for Eddie Howe's team. Despite not finding the back of the net against United, Carragher believes Isak would have been fit to play for the Reds had he finished at Old Trafford last summer. He told the media that he loves him and loves to watch him play.

I mean Manchester United need a centre-forward, you look at him and I think he would be absolutely fantastic for Man United. They could have gotten it at the beginning of the season. When I first saw him at Anfield, I think it was his first appearance, he looked exceptional. It's no secret that Erik ten Hag's main target in the summer will be a striker.

United have been relying on Wout Weghorst since January after Cristiano Ronaldo parted ways with the Reds in November following his incendiary interview with Piers Morgan. While Ten Hag insisted that he is pleased with Weghorst's contributions, there is clear acceptance that the team needs more goals.

The novel with Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur captain Harry Kane is understood to be the Reds' number one target in the summer. However, should Ten Hag struggle to sign England's all-time leading goalscorer, Atalanta's Rasmus Hojlund, Napoli's Victor Osimhen and Eintracht Frankfurt's Randal Kolo Muani are all being scouted as alternatives.
