Although there have been many issues at Manchester United this season, the majority of it has been resolved and shut out on the pitch, to avoid any distraction that will derail the team's campaign under their new manager Erik Ten Hag.
But there has been a pertinent one that has found a way to cut through the many firewalls set up by the club and the backroom staff this season to ensure that all their eyes are fully focused on the prize that awaits them at the end of the season.
Manchester United could end up in a bidding war over transfer target
Rashford was always going to score so they let him take it
Erik Ten Hag tore apart the United defensive setup he met at the club and molded the type of defense he wanted after several tweaking with his different defensive options. The final result was a starting spot for Raphael Varane and summer signing Lisandro Martinez at the heart of the defense.
Club captain Harry Maguire was dropped off to the bench early on and has remained in the same position as United stream rolled through the first half of the season, despite an injury to Varane toward the final few weeks of the first half of the campaign.
Harry Maguire was called up by his national team coach and has been a standing pillar in England's starting lineup at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar, with consistent top performances that could have earned him the MOTM awards. His elegant display against Senegal in the round of 16 takes his clean sheet tally to three from four games and one assist to his name, which leaves Ten Hag with more questions as to why he never plays the club captain.
