According to report Manchester United have sent scouts to closely monitor a star player in the Portuguese league as a potential replacement to one of their key player whose contract expires in the summer of 2023 as contract talks hit a snag. Last summer saw United invest heavenly in the team with the signing of Antony Santos, Tyrell Malacia, Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and free coup of Christian Eriksen.

FC Porto's 23-year-old goalkeeper, Diogo Costa is leading the list of potential investment for United as they consider the option to replace their current number, David De Gea whose contract is nowhere close to being renewed as their squad restructuring continues. Despite the contract situation, De Gea has remained as Erik ten Hag safe hands at the back this season with four clean sheets.

Costa  has been in impressive for the Porto with three penalty saves in three consecutive Champions League matches for his club. His two penalty saves in their last match helped  Porto advance to the knockout stages of the competition Champions League. The Portuguese is rumored to open to a switch should the opportunity arise.

With the midfield and backline significantly improved, United turn their attention to their goalkeeping unit as David De Gea  continues to champion the number spot under new manager Erik Ten Hag. The Spaniard's current is set to expire in the summer, as this season could mark his last with the Red Devils as contract talks continue to stall, leaving his future in unresolved as the World Cup closes in.

David De Gea is currently enjoying life under Erik Ten Hag  after some early scares and gone on to start all matches for the Dutchman in the last 13 games. Talks of a contract renewal are certainly crucial to the 31 year old Spaniard who had rejected several top transfer offers to leave United but always stayed.
