With one last round of Europa League group stage matches to go, the outcome of these matches will determine the fate of many teams in the competition including Manchester United, as they continue to compete across all competitions this season. A win might not be enough for the Red Devils to get to their preferred round.

Manchester United has been impressive in the Europa League with four wins and a loss in five matches so far, scoring nine goals and conceding three in the process. Their wins have come against  FC Sheriff and Omonia Nicosia in home and away fixtures, racking up 12 points while Real Sociedad has 15 points from winning all their five matches so far.

Better days ahead as Ten Hag reconciles with this player

A win against Real Sociedad tomorrow in Spain might not be enough to move the Red Devils above them in the current standing as they need to score at least four un-replied goals to be able to edge their group rivals on goal difference. Sociedad scored 10 and conceded just one in the process giving them a nine goals difference.

According to the new UEFA Europa League rule, the top spot in every group in the competition is guaranteed automatic round-of-16 qualifications while the first runners-up will have a stern round-of-32 test against the incoming third-placed team in the UEFA Champions League competition. This will be a must-win game for traveling united and will be hoping they are free scoring as Ten Hag will like.

CAN UNITED GET ITS DESIRED OUTCOME?

All eyes will be on Ten Hag as he will be expected to name a strong lineup for the encounter with Cristiano Ronaldo the most likely to lead the line, adding to his recent run of games at the starting nine. The Portuguese will be hoping to produce one of his usual magical nights that he is famous for in the hopes of helping his manager and team.
