Erik Ten Hag is looking to give opportunities to all his players, this has been something that has characterised him since his arrival at Manchester United, as he knows that he has to have all his players available in order to achieve the objectives that have been set from the beginning and to return the club to the top of Europe.

During the pre-season, the Dutch coach was using many of his promising young players from the U21s, with the intention that they could get playing time to continue to develop as in the regular season they do not get much time in the first team, even so, there were several players who ended up surprising the manager so they were promoted to the first team to fight for a starting place.

One of them was Facundo Pellistri, the Uruguayan striker was able to have good performances when Ten Hag called him in the matches, in the same way he could show his qualities so he earned a chance for this season, however, for some time that had not been enough because the board still had not well defined his future and his role within the team, so during the last week his case was on standby.

Even so, during the first match of the season, the young promise could see some minutes of action, as he entered the 77th minute in the victory of the Red Devils by the minimum difference against Wolves, although the Uruguayan had little time to show his skills, he was taken into account by Ten Hag who could start to give him a more relevant role for this season.

Diego Forlan backs his compatriot

The former United player has praised the potential of the 21-year-old, who recently scored a goal against Athletic Club in Dublin in the last pre-season game, and during an interview Diego Forlan said: "I know Pellistri, because I was his coach at Penarol before he went to Manchester United. So, I am aware of him and I want him to have more minutes", "We know it is not easy. It's difficult, but Pellistri is a very good player and a very good person as well."
