Manchester United suffer a huge blow in the tight win at Old Trafford

Manchester United move into third position as they finally beat Crystal Palace this season. The Red Devils beat the visitor 2-1 win at Old Trafford to secure all three points in their latest Premier League game after their run of Cup competition fixtures.

The game started off brightly as Manchester United pressured Palace into an early lead. A cross from Rashford's was blocked off by the hands of Will Hughes in the penalty box which resulted in a penalty for the home team. VAR was consulted for the opinion before the referee gave it.

Captain of the day Bruno Fernandes put United ahead from the spot kick sending the goalie in the opposite direction of his low-footed shot. It was an early goal that gave United more control in the game as they push Palace further back as the game progressed.

The unstoppable Marcus Rashford put the Red Devil further ahead with a second goal on the evening from a delicious low cross by Luke Shaw.  Rashford had enough space in front of the goalie to pick his slot and he eventually shot it beside the goalie into the back of the net.

What blow did United suffer?

Manchester United had a key player sent off in the game. Just around the 70th minute, United and Palace players were in a scuffle that saw Casemiro aggressively press his hands around Will Hughes's neck. The incident was caught by VAR and the referee was called to review the action which resulted in an automatic red card for Brazilian International. He will now miss United's next three domestic games.
