Ten Hag receives new information about his primary transfer target

When the new manager Erik Ten Hag assessed his team upon arrival, he quickly determined the team's strengths and weaknesses as well as the key areas they needed to improve on to begin implementing his football style on the squad.

The club spent the majority of their summer window chasing a deep-lying playmaker with a major focus on Barcelona star Frenkie De Jong who once played under Ten Hag during his time at Ajax but couldn't convince him to move which forced them to look at another option in Juventus despite the signing of Casemiro.

WHICH PLAYER WAS UNITED INTERESTED IN?

Manchester United switched focus to Adrien Rabiot of Juventus, who was available on a cheap but couldn't find an agreement with him on contract talks, which ultimately broke their talks. Months later Rabiot played his way to the 2022 World Cup final with France which they lost to Argentina but his form was remarkable. His impressive display has put United under criticism for failing to sign him in the summer and could require more finances than before to acquire him in the January market.
