Marcel Sabitzer has admitted that he likes to play higher up the Manchester United pitch after being used as an attacking midfielder in recent games. The Austrian midfielder, who joined Old Trafford on loan from Bayern Munich in January, has made 14 appearances for Erik ten Hag's side this season, 10 of them as a starter. The 29-year-old has scored three times for the Reds since his winter signing, two of which came against Sevilla in the Europa League.

Sabitzer scored twice in a 2-2 draw with the LaLiga side last week, and the Austrian international was deployed in an advanced role against Sevilla. The midfielder, who started in place of the suspended Bruno Fernandes, also played at number 10 in the second leg loss to the Spanish team on Thursday night.

Talking about his position change with the club media, he said that his position has changed a bit in the last three or four games, so I'm a bit higher. I like it, it works, it's very nice to score goals. It's the best thing you can do to help the team, so I want to keep going.

The 29-year-old could find himself among the substitutes when Ten Hag's side take on Brighton in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday. He insisted that the Reds are desperate to reach the final of the competition as they look to win another trophy at Wembley after lifting the Carabao Cup in February.

The goal is the Wembley final

That is our objective, we want to reach the final and win the final, but we know that Brighton are a tough opponent, they have good quality and it will be a difficult match, but we are prepared for it, he said. Where Sabitzer will play his club football next season remains to be seen, as United have neither the option nor the obligation to make his loan permanent in the summer.
