The Red Devils welcomed the return to Old Trafford days after their recent exploit against Reading FC with their second league Carabao Cup semifinal tie with Nottingham Forest. It was a fully packed atmosphere for both the home fans and the visitors.
Manchester United's manager stood by his words and put out a strong lineup for the return fixture despite some slight changes to the team. Alejandro Garnacho got a deserving start alongside Fred as they both replaced Marcus Rashford and injured Christian Eriksen.

Wout Weghorst got the nod to lead the attack once against after his class performance on the first leg with a goal as well. Weghorst had a clear moment in the first half to put United ahead but his efforts hit the woodwork.
He was subsequently subbed off in the second half as Erik Ten Hag was determined to get another Old Trafford win under his belt. Weghorst was replaced by Anthony Martial amongst a few other changes made by the Red Devils' manager.
The French striker couldn't wait to find the back of the net, which he did shortly after being subbed on. Anthony Martial pounced on a deflected Marcus Rashford effort to smash home United's first goal on the night. Though it was a brief cameo, Anthony Martial looked dangerous every time he was with the ball, which was something Weghorst couldn't do. Martial's bursting impact sends a clear message that he'll be a handful for Newcastle United when they face off in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley. Manchester United won the game 2-0 with Fred scoring the second goal.
