Early this week, Manchester United put an end to what was a great relationship with club legend Cristiano Ronaldo after mutually terminating the rest of his contract without pay, which he agreed to. The decision which was made known via official statements from both parties was the best option for either side as they sort to avoid any legal conflict.

Cristiano Ronaldo who has almost 350 appearances for the Red Devils scored 145 times and created 64 times as well over his two spells at the club. Ronaldo joined the Red Devils last season and was instrumental to their European competition spot with 24 goals.

He however found life difficult at the club this season after Erik Ten Hag took over in the summer. Ten Hag was quick to axe him from the starting lineup and was subjected to bench duties for a while before he was given a recall to the team after serving his one-game suspension.

With the 37 years old now a free agent for the first time in his playing career, he's solely focused on his national team affairs at the moment as Portugal gear up to open their World Cup campaign with Ghana later today. All club issues will expectedly be reviewed after the world cup as many clubs show interest.

WHAT DOES RONALDO WANT NOW?

Cristiano Ronaldo has always maintained his desire to play at the highest level of the game throughout his playing career, which was why he turned down two years 350  million euros deal from Saudi Arabia in the summer. But for now, he's set his sight on his final chance to win the World Cup and will be hoping that with this current pool of Portuguese talent, they can do so.
