As we count down to the start of the World Cup in less than two weeks, Manchester has been bubbling as several Red Devil players have made it to the list of the different national teams. The likes of Ronaldo, Bruno, Casemiro, Rashford, and even club captain Harry Maguire have been called up.

It is safe to say that the tournament's excitement is rubbing off on everyone at Old Trafford except the former player of the season on several occasions, who was not called up by his national team despite his phenomenal performance so far this season with Manchester United.

The fans don't respect him, he says he is a good player for the team

Before the Spanish team list was named, there were several speculations if everpresent United goalie David De Gea would be able to earn a recall to the national team and represent at the World Cup. Although De Gea had been omitted for recent international tournaments like the Euros 2020, his performance this season had raised the fans' hope of his inclusion.

According to reports, Spanish head coach Luis Enrique had firmly declared that De Gea's era with the team was over as he had other preferred young goalies that deserve the chance and that wasn't going to change as they plan towards participation at Qatar.

WHAT HAPPENS TO DE GEA NOW FOLLOWING OMISSION?

It is safe to assume that the national team chapter of David De Gea's footballing career has closed now, as the chances of future call-ups seem nonexistent. The Spaniard goalkeeper only has 45 appearances with Spain and will now be focused on solving his contract issue at United.
