It is no surprise that for some years now the United States Soccer League (MLS) has been one of the main destinations for players looking to finish their careers and the attractive salaries they get from it, making more and more elite players seek to emigrate to the North American continent.

One such player who pioneered the expansion of MLS was Manchester United legend David Beckham, who surprised the world by leaving Spanish club Real Madrid and announcing in 2007 that he would be joining the Los Angeles Galaxy as a franchise player. Beckham was able to recognise the market potential in the United States and was quick to take advantage of the situation.

According to his contract with the LA Galaxy, Beckham could buy the rights to an expansion team for $25 million; which ended up happening in 2020 when the English player became owner and president of operations of Inter Miami, which has since raised many expectations and can call on players from United or any other team, thanks to Beckham's connections.

Seeing this opportunity, former Red Devils defender, captain and legend Gary Neville, who we remember so well and who has never been away from the club, would look to team up with his old friend David Beckham, now sharing time together on the Inter Miami board, as they once did at Old Trafford.

Manchester United-MLS connection

The Red Devils and MLS have had strong ties over the years, as Man Utd stars have gone to the American league with the idea of finishing their careers, the best-known case being David Beckham's time at LA Galaxy, but not just him, names such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Chicharito, Nani and Wayne Rooney have all been transferred to MLS teams.
