With less than a month to the start of the World Cup, Erik Ten Hag is facing scrutiny from many United and England fans for consistently benching England's most important player. Manchester United has played 14 times this season, with the player barely making an appearance even when there are open spots on the team for Ten Hag to start him.

Although, Ten Hag promised to give every player a fighting chance to earn a starting spot, the same cannot be said when it comes to selecting Harry Maguire, as the Englishman has been limited to just four appearances in the Premier League from the Red Devil's 14. Despite the United captain playing less, he has been instrumental to their European form with four starts from six games.

In arguably, United's most important match, Harry Maguire is forced to watch from the bench as Victor Lindelof gets a start ahead of him in what could decide the Red Devil's fate in Europe this season. The decision to bench Maguire has lit a fury fuse in the hearts of United and England fans who were hoping the 29-year-old will get some playing time ahead of the coming World Cup.

An injury to Ten Hag's preferred right center-back, Raphael Varane created an opening in the team, with many expecting it to be Maguire's slot back into the team. The French man won't be playing for United again until after the World Cup much to Ten Hag's displeasure. Harry will be hoping for a turnaround in the next few match as he desires to play more.

WILL MAGUIRE MAKE THE ENGLAND TEAM?

There are few players with a guaranteed slot in the English national team set up and Harry Maguire falls in that category. He has been a reliable player for Gareth Southgate and has consistently been a part of his team since he took over as the national team coach.
