Manchester United manager singles out a star player in Old Trafford win as he gets revenge.

Manchester United secure their spot in the Europa League next round as they beat Spanish giant, FC Barcelona 2-1 at Old Trafford. The Red Devils lived up to their fans' aspirations on the night in a game that was once the biggest Champions League fixture years ago.

Erik Ten Hag and his players were well prepared for the game after they lost their chance to win at Camp Nou a week ago. The Red Devils manager was quite delighted to have been able to exact revenge on his Barcelona and his former player's antics toward Manchester United during their past deal.

The Red Devils spent the majority of their summer trying hard to sign Erik Ten Hag's primary transfer target, Frenkie De Jong but were constantly rejected. The Netherlands International was once a player under Erik Ten Hag during his time at Ajax where they dominated the Eredivisie.

United reached an agreement with Barcelona for De Jong but was constantly played around with the Spanish club's constant claims of no desire to sell the player in media space. Eventually, the Red Devils were forced to move on to other targets at the late hour.

Who did Ten Hag single out?

The Red Devils got a win 2-1 after coming from behind in the game. Fred and Antony got the goals for Manchester United on the night.  In the post-match presser, Fred got a lot of praise from Erik Ten Hag who said that 'his role was to spot  Frenkie De Jong, and be like a mosquito all over him." Manchester United fans sang Fred's name during the game.
