The result might have been coming in on the pitch but off the pitch, things look unclear.

A fantastic run of form saw Manchester United win seven games and draw two, which sent them toward the top of the table. A recent loss at Villa Park dealt a blow to their unbeaten run with a 3-1 win over the Red Devils with an unstable center-back pairing which leaves them in fifth place on the log.

The center-back pairing of Lisandro  Martinez and Victor Lindelof were toyed with by Villa's counterattacking pace and tricky. Many fans had hoped to see the name Harry Maguire on the team sheet but they were taken aback when he did not start the game. But was rather watching from the bench.

Since the early start of the season, Erik Ten Hag consistently overlooked the Manchester United captain for another player to take up the right side of his central defense. The preferred pair of Varane and Martinez has started the most number of games together at the back with Maguire only featuring four times so far.

An injury to Varane against Chelsea seemed like a blessing for Harry Maguire to get back his position in the lineup but Erik Ten Hag has dismissed such thoughts as he has refused to play the English defender, despite his availability for games.

WHAT NEXT FOR MAGUIRE FROM BENCH DUTIES?

The English man will be looking turn his anger of not playing into a drive for his expected World Cup appearances. Maguire will be joined by his Manchester United teammates like Marcus Rashford and more. A good outing for Maguire with the Three lions will surely help turn things around for him at United.
