Cristiano Ronaldo had his moments as United see off West Ham in tense match

Old Trafford was jubilant once more, a Manchester United saw off West Ham United with a 1-0 win in a fiercely contested match. The blazing melody of glory glory Man United was on full volume as United fans celebrated a crucial win against their former manager, in a game that was evenly contested on all level except the one that mattered.

Marcus Rashford who has been in impressive scoring form coming into the game, played out on the left to accommodate Cristiano Ronaldo up front, who also had a decent game despite not scoring. United dominated the first half with waves after waves of attacking threat that saw the likes of Diogo Dalot push forward to join the attack.

A scintillating inside of the foot cross from Christian Eriksen from right edge of the box, split the West ham backline open for Marcus Rashford to pounce on the ball and guide it home from close range. The  goal marked Rashford's 100th Manchester United goal, for a young man who cam up through the club academy ranks.

Cristiano Ronaldo also  got his well deserved started Premier League start in while after his Thursday night performance and played a huge part in trying to exploit the Hammers backline. The narrow victory extends United recorded to eight unbeaten games across all competition with five more matches to go before the World Cup starts.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR TEN HAG?

An impressive first half display was enough to send them to fifth position ahead of Chelsea but there will be worrying concerns as to how they nearly let West Ham back into the game with their energetic second half performance. Up next is the Europa league top spot decider against Real Sociedad in Spain.
