It is no secret that Manchester United have long been looking for a new goalkeeper to replace Spanish keeper David De Gea, who for a long time was one of the best in his position, but recently because of some mistakes he has made in important games and his poor performance, has led to United looking to replace him.
During the first few weeks of the transfer window, United manager Erik Ten Hag released a list of positions that the club would be interested in signing, one of which was goalkeeper, and for that reason several names of European goalkeepers began to appear as possible replacements for De Gea.
However, to date Manchester United have not been able to make any signings, which has the fans, the board and Ten Hag himself desperate to find the missing pieces for United to face next season and for the club to have a chance to fight for the Premier League with Manchester City.
Given this failure to find the ideal replacement and the stalled talks with potential reinforcements, Ten Hag would rethink his decision to find a new goalkeeper for the Reds, wanting to save the money, but rather spend it on another position and give David De Gea a new contract, which could secure his stay at United for at least one more season.
Fans were keen to see a new goalkeeper in goal for the Reds, so the club reportedly made bids for Inter Milan keeper André Onana, who sounded like the best option, and Serbian goalkeeper Dorde Petrovic, who plays in the MLS. However, due to the failure to reach an agreement with the clubs, De Gea's stay in goal is becoming more and more imminent.
