Manchester United are still holding David de Gea in the team for a 20 million euros reason that has surprised the fans.

Despite the efforts of Manchester United to get rid of David de Gea this season, there are several reasons why he could remain on the team for the next season.

Manchester United and Erik ten Hag are doing everyhting they can to make sure that David de Gea leaves the team this very summer, but they do not want to kick him out of the team while they do not have a player that could take over the number position as the club goalkeeper, and now it seems that the spanish keeper could be staying.

It seems that David de Gea and the red devils have already reached an agreement that would lowe his salary to 200,000 euros per week, but both parties believe that the deal won't be signed or approved if there is a new keeper on the team, and now Manchester United wanted to make sure that they got David Raya as the main option.

David Raya has been one of the main targets for Manchester United since before the transfer window started, and now it seems that they send a first offer fo 20 million euro that got rejected by Brentford, sources close to the team believe that they should get at least 40 million euros, but the fact is that Manchester United would rather keep David de Gea.

David Raya role

The truth is that Manchester United wants to bring in David Raya as their back up keeper, with Onana so close to signing with the team but Dean Henderson and David de Gea both with a foot out of the club, the team wants to make sure that they have a reliable back up keeper, and that is why they are reluctant to pay more than the 20 million euros that they initially offered.
