David de Gea, who at 33 years of age has been without a team since last summer he refused to renew his contract with Manchester United, will not return to the Premier League with Newcastle. Although that option had been opened to the Madrid goalkeeper after Nick Pope's injury, something we had already talked about in LAOTRALIGA, the amount of money he requested has been such that the Magpies have ruled out signing him.

And David De Gea has asked for nothing more and nothing less than 20 million euros per season to sign with Newcastle. This is stated by The Sun, which points out that, unable to lower his expectations, heading to Saudi Arabia is the most feasible option for the former Spanish goalkeeper today.

It should be noted that if David De Gea is currently without a team it is because last summer he refused to renew his contract with Manchester United. The Spanish goalkeeper received 375,000 pounds per week, almost 450,000 euros at the exchange rate. This amount, or an even higher one, is what the Madrid native could receive if he ends up arriving in Saudi Arabia.

Given the terrible situation, the Magpies team knows that to continue competing for the top of the table, they must strengthen themselves. The experienced 33-year-old Spaniard has shown his quality in the Premier League and they know what he can contribute. De Gea has not had a team for a few months, so hiring him would be much cheaper than getting another goalkeeper under contract. Although the English media see a high probability of him passing, Newcastle are thinking about other options.

Why had Newcastle been interested in De Gea?

If Newcastle has been interested in David De Gea it is because of Nick Pope's injury, and he will be out for between four and six months. According to what could be read in the Daily Mail, signing the Madrid native would have obvious appeal given his pedigree, immediate availability and the fact that he would not require a transfer fee, but he would have to accept a lower amount to fit into their salary structure if Newcastle I would like to make a firm move for him.
